The Plant Paradox: The Hidden Dangers in "Healthy" Foods That Cause Disease and Weight Gain

If you consider plants to be the perfect food source for humans, you might be a little shocked after reading this book.

If you consider plants to be the perfect food source for humans, you might be a little shocked after reading this book ????

This book was written by cardiologist Dr. Gundry, after many years of research and observation of his patients.

In this world, no one wants to be eaten by another; this is clearly demonstrated in animals, and similarly in plants. Plants, with their survival instincts, always strive to avoid being eaten or to make their enemies pay the price after consuming them. When a plant is harvested from one side, the other side gradually increases the secretion of toxic substances.

According to the author, the most prominent of the substances that plants secrete to protect themselves is lectin. He observed that in patients who ate a lectin-free diet, allergies, autoimmune diseases, and obesity gradually disappeared. He provided a "Yes" list of foods that can be eaten and a "No" list of foods that should be avoided. In addition, he suggested supplementing with some functional foods such as vitamin D, grapeseed oil, etc., to reduce the symptoms of these diseases.

Therefore, after finishing this book, I checked out nearly 5,000 reviews on Amazon (currently around 17,000 reviews – a fairly high number on that website) and then experimented on myself with a lectin-free diet at 80-90% (supplements were inconsistent, mainly the diet). The result was that I felt there was an anti-inflammatory effect, but it wasn't as prominent as the weight loss effect, just as the reviews on Amazon said. I have to say I lost weight uncontrollably, so after 3 months I had to stop ???? because I didn't need to lose weight anymore. Back then, whenever I felt hungry, all I could think about was a basket of raw vegetables including lettuce and various herbs, probably because I had gotten used to this diet  ????.

The most difficult thing for me about this diet is probably craving carbohydrates and chili peppers ????, but avoiding the foods on the "No" list isn't too hard. Anyone who wants to lose weight can refer to this diet plan, and depending on their determination, they can follow it from 0-100% ????.

This book also discusses eating seasonal fruits, and the author does not advocate overeating; fruits should only be eaten in season, and more in the fall to build up energy reserves for winter.

Here are some pictures of the dishes I ate on this diet back then:

Fresh almonds, raw vegetables, American figs, olives, roasted sesame seeds. Absolutely delicious. ????

    Papaya salad

Millet porridge, sweet potato porridge, cassava porridge
